
Jammu, Oct 16 – In a significant relief initiative for the flash flood-affected residents of village Channi Rama, the Rotary Club Bombay, in collaboration with Rotary Club Jammu Tawi and Rotary Club Jammu Baahu (District 3070), distributed essential aid and conducted vital health awareness sessions. The program, supported by Gracious Givers and MHSF, was presided over by the Chief Guest, Shri Vikram Randhawa, MLA of the BAHU Constituency.
The relief drive provided immediate material support to more than 200 families, who received blankets, mattresses, stationery for children, earthen lamps, and confectionery items, bringing smiles to the faces of the underprivileged children in the community. President Rotary Club Jammu Baahu Rtn Dr Navneet Kaur gave the welcome address.
Presidents of the collaborating clubs, Rtn Dr. Shivani (RC Jammu Tawi) and Rtn Dr. Navneet Kaur (RC Jammu Bahu), organized the program and took a proactive step in community health by conducting counselling sessions for women and girls. They delivered an informative talk on menstrual health, hygiene, and the goals of the Anemia Mukt Bharat (Anemia-Free India) campaign, addressing critical health issues in one of Jammu’s largest urban slums.
Speaking on the occasion, PGD Rtn Dr. Dushyant Choudhary highlighted the unwavering commitment of Rotary International during disasters and natural calamities. “Wherever there is a need, Rotarians are ready to step forward and help affected communities rebuild their lives. This initiative is a testament to our ethos of ‘Service Above Self’,” he stated.
The Chief Guest, Shri Vikram Randhawa, personally distributed blankets and relief materials to the affected families. He commended the collective efforts of the Rotary clubs and their partners, emphasizing the importance of such community-driven support in times of crisis.
Adding a symbolic gesture of light and sweetness to the relief efforts, Rtn Dr. Nidhi Gupta, along with a team from Gracious Givers and Rotary volunteers, lit earthen lamps in the homes of the residents and distributed sweets, fostering a sense of warmth and celebration amid adversity.
Rotarian Ashok Gupta was instrumental in supporting the event’s logistics and lauded the entire team for their voluntary services, which were pivotal to the program’s success.
Senior Rth Adeep Mehta cheered the Volunteer’s for their contributions to the underprivileged .
The event successfully provided not just material aid but also crucial health education and moral support, marking a comprehensive effort to assist the Channi Rama community on their path to recovery.
Ex Corporator Sh Kamal Singh was the coordinator of the camp . He mobilised the families and the children for the event .
