JKNPF ( Jammu- Kashmir Nationalist People’s Front) announced it will host a Drug Awareness Rally on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from.Lal Chowk to downtown Srinagar at 11 am.The event aims to mobilize community support for a drug-free lifestyle and educate the public on the dangers and consequences of substance abuse.
Media Head JKNPF informed that, “The rally is a key initiative in our campaign to combat the growing issue of drug addiction within J&K. It will feature participants marching with Indian flags, banners and placards on bikes, cars and walking to spread impactful slogans and messages against substance abuse. ” He also said, “We believe that a united community can be a strong force against drug abuse. This rally is a step toward creating a safer, healthier future for our youth and inspiring them to make positive choices”.
Jasif Khan, working President, JKNPF said ” As a political party committed to ensuring justice and fairness, we urge the authorities to take decisive action against the kingpins of substance abuse and trafficking, while also protecting the rights of small-time offenders and victims who are often penalized unfairly.
In many cases, individuals caught with small quantities of drugs are victims of circumstance, personal vendettas, or rivalry, rather than hardcore criminals. Meanwhile, the real kingpins continue to operate with impunity. We appeal to the competent authorities to thoroughly investigate such cases and ensure that justice is served.”
This rally is being inspired and being held under the guidance of Sh Sanjay Kumar, founder, mentor and chief patron, JKNPF.
Sh Sanjay Kumar observed that JKNPF is the only party that has been quite vocal about the substance abuse and has worked with youth to come out of this vicious circle. Infact I held a padyatra pan Kashmir about this issue and met many victim families. I again reiterate that JKNPF is committed to working with the authorities to create a fair and just system that addresses the complexities of substance abuse and trafficking. We hope that our concerns will be taken seriously, and meaningful action will be taken to address this critical issue.”
“Disturbingly, in approximately 80% of cases, drug victims are treated as accused, penalized, and stigmatized, while the masterminds behind the drug trade often go unpunished. This approach not only fails to address the root causes of the problem but also perpetuates a cycle of victimization.
“We urge the Competent authorities to adopt a nuanced approach that prioritizes rehabilitation over punishment for those who are victims of circumstance and focuses on dismantling the networks of organized crime. By doing so, we can ensure that the true culprits are held accountable and justice is served.”He further added.
The event will also address by pary office bearers and interaction with those gathered as well as with media.
The Drug Awareness Rally is free and open to the public. All community members, including students, families, local leaders, and businesses, are encouraged to participate.
JKNPF joined the political landscape of J&K with an aim to provide corruption free, violence free and addiction free state and has been gathering eyeballs with its systematic outreach in the state and some path breaking initiatives.
