On the birth anniversary of the revered nationalist leader Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, fondly known as Sher-e-Duggar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) paid rich tributes across Jammu and Kashmir today. This announcement came as BJP leaders reflected on Dogra’s contributions towards national integration and selfless service.
This significant commemoration took place in Srinagar, led by BJP National General Secretary and In-charge for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Tarun Chugh. Along with senior party leaders, Chugh garlanded the portrait of Pt. Dogra at the party office to honor his legacy.
Accompanying Chugh were notable BJP figures such as Sat Sharma, J&K BJP President; Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organization); Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, and Anwar Khan. They collectively paid floral tributes to the great leader who dedicated his life to the nation.
Chugh hailed Pt. Prem Nath Dogra as “an institution of national integration and selfless service.” He articulated the significance of Dogra’s struggle for unity, stating, “His unwavering struggle for ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan’ became the moral compass of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and continues to inspire the BJP today.” This philosophy remains a cornerstone of the party’s ideology.
Chugh further emphasized that the recent abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Narendra Modi Government is the realization of Pt. Dogra’s lifelong dream, calling it “the ultimate tribute to his steadfast commitment to national unity.”
Sat Sharma echoed similar sentiments, calling Dogra a visionary who actively led the Praja Parishad Movement. Sharma noted that Dogra dedicated his life to the complete integration of Jammu & Kashmir with India. He proudly stated, “Pandit Ji’s long-cherished dream has been realized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Ashok Koul reminisced about Dogra’s moral integrity and conviction. He highlighted how Dogra’s leadership in the “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” movement was pivotal in abolishing the separate post of Prime Minister for Jammu and Kashmir.
In another part of Jammu, BJP leaders, including MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, along with J&K BJP General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Baldev Singh Billawaria, participated in a Hawan ceremony and offered floral tributes at Dogra Chowk. This event reaffirmed their commitment to Dogra’s vision.
Jugal Kishore Sharma characterized Pt. Dogra as “a towering statesman and patriot who led the historic Praja Parishad Movement for full integration of J&K with India.” His insights resonated with the gathering, as many reflected on the importance of selfless leadership.
Sanjita Dogra urged party workers to embody Pandit Ji’s spirit of dedication and service. Meanwhile, Baldev Singh Billawaria stressed that Pt. Dogra’s ideology laid the firm foundation for the unification of Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian Union, inspiring the current and future generations.
